Disease and steroid burden in IBD

Dr Christian Selinger from St James University Hospital, UK, reviews the role of steroids in IBD in 2022 – the good the bad and the ugly! A/Prof. Peter De Cruz then takes us through effective steroid tapering in IBD, including risk stratification, how to use steroid responsiveness as a guide to induction intensity and how to wean patients off them. The presenters then discuss their points in the context of an Australian case study.

Strategies to target Mucosal Healing in IBD

Prof. James Lindsay from the Royal London Hospital, UK, shares his views on how to work towards achieving mucosal healing in the clinic. Then he and A/Prof. Britt Christensen discuss the treatment decisions involved in an Australian case study of a women diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and her journey through drug intolerances, flares and pregnancy.
